The short version: Simply Scan processes and stores your documents entirely on your device. We do not have servers, we do not have accounts, and we never see, upload, or collect your scans. The only data processing beyond your device comes from the advertising that supports the free version — and a one-time purchase removes ads entirely.
Nothing. Your scanned pages, recognized text, and exported PDFs are created and stored in the app's private storage on your device. Deleting a scan deletes its files; uninstalling the app deletes everything. The app has no account system and sends none of your content anywhere.
Scanning uses your device's camera, which Simply Scan operates directly. The app asks for camera permission the first time you open the scanner — never at launch — and you can decline and still use every other feature, including importing a picture you already have.
Pages you capture are written straight into Simply Scan's private storage on your device. Page images, and any text recognized from them for search and PDF text, are processed entirely on-device. Nothing is uploaded to us or to anyone else. Deleting a scan deletes its files.
The free version shows a single banner ad served by Google AdMob. As with any mobile advertising SDK, Google may collect and process certain data to provide and secure ads, including approximate location, app interaction data, diagnostics, and device or other identifiers (such as the advertising ID). This data is used for analytics, advertising, and fraud prevention, and is transmitted encrypted. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data in AdMob.
In the European Economic Area and the UK, you will be asked for consent before any ad is shown, and you can revisit your choice at any time via "Ad privacy options" in the app's About screen.
Removing ads: the one-time "Remove ads" purchase permanently disables the advertising SDK's banner in the app. Purchases are processed by Google Play; we receive no payment details.
The optional one-time purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your name, card details, or billing address. Your entitlement is verified with Google Play.
Simply Scan is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.
Because your documents exist only on your device, you are in full control: delete scans in the app, or uninstall the app to remove all data. We hold nothing to delete on our side.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
