Everything you log — food, weight, water, goals and your profile — is stored on your phone. There are no accounts and no Health Connect, and we operate no server that your log is sent to.
The app uses the internet to look up a food on Open Food Facts (and, for a barcode it doesn't know, USDA FoodData Central) — the barcode you scanned, or the words you searched for — and its built-in camera readers, Google's ML Kit, send Google anonymous diagnostics about how they are working. The free version shows one ad, served by Google AdMob; buying Premium removes it. None of your log goes to any of them.

The app opts out of Android's cloud backup and phone-to-phone transfer, so no copy is made on your behalf. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Because we hold no copy, we cannot restore it for you.

No account, name, device identifier, food log, weight or profile is sent with the Open Food Facts lookups. Like any website, Open Food Facts receives your device's IP address when the app connects to it; its handling of that is described in the Open Food Facts privacy policy. The app identifies itself to Open Food Facts as "SimplyBalance" with our support address, as their rules ask.
Apart from the ML Kit diagnostics and the free version's AdMob banner above, Simply Balance contains no analytics software. The ad never receives your food log, weight, goals or profile. The app does not read from or write to Health Connect, Google Fit or any other health service.
Simply Balance requests no other permissions. It has no access to your location, contacts, microphone, files or other apps' health data.
Simply Balance is for adults. It is not directed to children, and setup asks you to confirm you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on request — but if you have a question, please write to us.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how data is handled, note it in the app's release notes.
